The drive to Pera Palace Hotel
The route runs from Istanbul Airport along the Northern Marmara motorway, then down through Şişli and Taksim into Beyoğlu. Roughly 42 kilometres, and normally 45 to 60 minutes. The motorway section is fast and predictable; the last two kilometres, from Taksim Square down through Tepebaşı, are where the time actually goes. Weekday evenings and the hours around a concert or a match at the nearby venues can add twenty minutes on their own.
Meşrutiyet Caddesi is one-way and often partially blocked by service vehicles. Our chauffeurs approach from the Tepebaşı end rather than trying to come up from Galata, which is the approach that leaves guests standing on the pavement with luggage while a car reverses out of a lane.
