The drive to Divan Istanbul Taksim
The drive leaves Istanbul Airport on the Northern Marmara motorway, joins the O-1 and comes down through Şişli onto Cumhuriyet Caddesi. About 41 kilometres, normally 45 to 60 minutes. It is one of the shorter airport runs to a five-star hotel in Istanbul, and the motorway carries most of it.
The variable is Cumhuriyet Caddesi itself. Between 17:00 and 20:00 on a weekday the last three kilometres can take as long as the previous thirty-eight. Our chauffeurs check the flow before leaving the airport and, when it is bad, come down via Taşkışla instead of sitting in the Elmadağ queue.
